We count visits. We do not follow you.
Like most sites, we want to know how many people come by and which pages they enjoy. Unlike most sites, we built the counter ourselves so that it cannot tell us who you are.
What is counted
- Which page was opened, and roughly how long it was on your screen
- The site you arrived from, if your browser says (just the site’s name, such as “facebook.com”)
- The kind of device, browser and system — “phone, Safari, iOS” — and your browser’s language and time zone
- When a game is started or finished, and the score
What is not
- No cookies, and nothing is stored on your device to recognize you later
- Your internet address is never stored. It is mixed with a secret that changes every day to make an anonymous daily tally mark, and the secret is destroyed after two days — so even we cannot work backwards from it, or tell that today’s visitor is yesterday’s
- No names, no email addresses, no advertising IDs: the visit counter knows nothing about who you are, whether or not you have a collector account
- No Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no third party of any kind: the counts go to our own server and stay there
What an account keeps
The collector database lives at collection.pezcollection.com. Visiting this site never creates an account; you only have one if you asked for one.
What we keep
- Your e-mail address, so you can sign in, and so we can send the link that confirms it or resets your password
- Your name, if you gave one
- Your collection: the rows you enter or import, and the photos you upload
- One cookie on collection.pezcollection.com, which is what keeps you signed in. It does nothing else, and this site never sees it
What we do not do
- No marketing e-mail. We write only when you ask for a sign-up or reset link, or when somebody invites you
- We do not sell or share your address or your collection
- No other collector can see your collection. A share link shows only the list you chose, never what you paid, and stops working when you turn it off
- The public price guide is not built from your collection
If you write to us from the price guide (“What is mine worth?” or “I have one to sell”), we keep what you typed and the e-mail address you gave, so that a person can answer you. We do not store your internet address with it, we never send anything to that address except our reply, and we delete your message once it has been dealt with. You need no account to do it.
We run the database, so the people who maintain it can technically reach what is stored in it; we look only when something is broken. Those e-mails are delivered for us by a mail service (Resend), which sees the address and the message. To remove everything, open the menu in the collector database and choose “Delete my account”: your login, your rows and your photos are deleted at once, and they drop out of our backups within fourteen days.
Younger collectors are welcome. Everything on this site is meant to be fine for any age, and the games, the comic and the price guide need no account at all. The one thing the law asks of us is not to collect a child’s own e-mail address, so for anyone under 13 a parent or guardian creates the account, or writes to us, using their own address.
Rather not be counted at all?
Fair enough. Press the button and this browser will stop sending even the anonymous counts. The choice is remembered on this device only — which is, fittingly, the one thing this site ever stores on it.
Your best scores in the games are also kept on your own device, never sent to us, along with whether you switched the sound off. If the site ever carries advertising, this page will say so, and say exactly what changes.
